Bus Trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art | October 13 | 7:30 am – 7 pm

Is there any place better than New York City in the fall?  Join the Lyman Allyn Art Museum for a spectacular day trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art! The bus will depart the Lyman Allyn at 7:30 am and will arrive at the Metropolitan around 10:30 am for a private tour of some of the Met’s most famous galleries featuring Greek, Roman, Byzantine, and Medieval Art. The tour will be given by Connecticut College professor Dr. Joseph Alchermes, who has taught Art History classes at the Lyman Allyn and who has written essays included in the Metropolitan’s “The Glory of Byzantium” exhibition catalogue.

After the tour, there will be time to explore the Met and enjoy lunch at one of their  seven dining facilities. Special exhibitions on view will include: Delacroix (a joint exhibition between the Met and the Louvre); Devotion to Drawing: The Karen B. Cohen Collection of Eugene Delacroix; and Armenia! The Artistic and Cultural Achievements of the Armenian People.

After a day of art exploration, we will depart New York City at 4:00 pm and arrive back at the Lyman Allyn Art Museum around 7:00 pm (travel times are approximate and may be affected by traffic and/or weather conditions).
