Sample some of Connecticut’s best craft brews and barbecue at Guilford Art Center’s Beer & BBQ event.
Guests are invited to try a selection of beers from area breweries, including Stony Creek Brewery, Thimble Island Brewing Co., Counter Weight Brewing Co., and Black Hog Brewing Co. There will be a selection of food provided by The Stand: Roadside BBQ & Market of Branford, CT. Wine and non-alcoholic beverages also will be served. Live music will be performed by alt-country musician Frank Nerkowski.
Additionally, there will be a silent auction and art exhibit on view in the gallery featuring work by watercolor artist John Fleming. The GAC blacksmiths will be conducting live demonstrations in the blacksmith forge.
“This event will be a really fun, relaxed evening that allows people to enjoy some great drink, food, live music and exhibits, while supporting the arts. We’re excited to host all of the great local breweries and The Stand, and so appreciate their support of this event” says Guilford Art Center Executive Director, Maureen Belden.
Reservations for Beer & BBQ are $50 per person, with proceeds to benefit Guilford Art Center’s educational and community programs. Reservations are limited; call to make a reservation: 203-453-5947 or pay for reservations online at www.guilfordartcenter.org.
About Guilford Art Center
The Guilford Art Center is a non-profit school, shop and gallery established to nurture and support excellence in the arts. Through classes for adults and children, gallery programs, a shop of contemporary crafts, and special events, the Center fulfills its mission to provide opportunities for the public to participate in the arts, to experience their cultural and historical diversity, and to appreciate the process and product of creative work. Founded in 1967 (as the Guilford Handcraft Center), the Center evolved from the first Handcraft Expo, held on the Guilford Green in 1957. It currently serves over 2,000 students in classes, presents juried and invitational exhibits of art in the Center’s gallery and operates a shop of fine, handmade American crafts year-round. The Center also presents the Craft Expo, held on the Guilford Green each year in July, that features works by more than 180 of the country’s most distinguished artisans and is a much-anticipated annual event for the shoreline community.
