Cendrillon – UCONN Opera | January 26 | 7:30 pm
Warm up this winter with a journey into the magical world of Cendrillon with UConn Opera’s folk-inspired production of the traditional Cinderella fairytale. The family-friendly presentation, with stage direction by Michelle Hendrick and musical direction by Dr. Brett Hodgdon, features a talented cast of students from the UConn Voice Area. Members of the cast have already distinguished themselves as accomplished performing artists singing with such professional opera companies as Washington National Opera, Portland Opera, Ohio Light Opera, The Glimmerglass Festival, Chautauqua Opera, and numerous professional companies throughout the state of Connecticut. UConn Opera is also happy to continue the beloved tradition of including a children’s chorus of singers from Windham Public Schools, an opportunity made possible through an on-going partnership developed under the auspices of the Jeffrey P. Ossen Family Foundation, a generous sponsor of this production.
This original production is the culmination of collaborative efforts between departments within the UConn School of Fine Arts, showcasing the work of alumni and current apprentices in Design and Technical Production within the Department of Dramatic Arts, the School of Digital Media and Design, and the Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry.
