Clinton Summerfest & Fireworks | August 25 | 4 – 9 pm

Celebrate the last weekend of summer at the Summerfest & Fireworks in Clinton on Saturday, August 25, 2018.  The Summerfest kicks off at 4:00 pm with the Fireworks scheduled to launch from the Town Beach at 9:05 pm.

Summerfest

The Summerfest will run from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at two main locations: behind the Andrews Memorial Town Hall and the lawn of the Pierson School.

Town Hall

Behind Town Hall, Rock Bottom Band will be on the stage performing their classic rock, blues and funk, with room to dance or tables and chairs to sit. Inside the enclosed Beer & Wine Garden, choose from among five different craft breweries:

  • Samuel Adams Brewery, Boston
  • Soundview Brewing, Old Lyme
  • Thimble Island Brewing, Branford
  • Two Roads, Stratford
  • Shock Top, featuring the Shock Top Car

and wine from Santa Margherita!

There will be plenty of food with Frank Andrews Wood Fired Pizza and [chow] Food & Beverage’s truck.

Pierson School

The Pierson School lawn will be rollicking with DJ Ron Glick with music for dancing and contests (Limbo! – how low can you go?). There will be $1.00 pics at the Photo Booth, a moonwalk and the YMCA’s Gaga Pit. The Boy Scouts will be running Pinewood Derby races and the Girl Scouts will offer temporary tattoos and face painting. Enjoy Bacon and Cheese Tater Tots from Mike’s Kitchen or a Chet’s Italian Ice. The Little League will be selling water and Gatorade. And there’s more!

Town Beach

The town beach will be open all day but there will be no parking available (excepted for Handicapped). Waterside Lane to the beach will close to traffic at 3:00 pm. The Wenaumet Iscream truck and Chet’s Italian Ice will be there from 4:00 pm and the NuGroove band will play from 7:00-9:00 pm.

Fireworks

The Fireworks display will launch at 9:05 pm from the town beach. They will be visible from the Pierson School and the Town Hall Annex parking lot, but the best spot in town is at the Town Beach right under them. There are few opportunities to be as close to the action as this. Not only can you see them and hear them but also feel them as they explode in the air!

Other Locations

There are several other locations in Clinton where people will gather to view the Fireworks. Some areas are within private homeowner associations and we urge people to respect any limitations on access that are in place.

One very popular area is the Town Dock area. There will be no parking along Grove or Commerce Streets on either side leading to the town dock. There will be limited parking on the side streets (one side only). The Town Boat ramp will be closed between 5:00 and 10:00 pm and all boat trailers are to be moved out of the Town Dock parking are by 12:30 pm. (Boat trailer parking is available further down along Riverside Drive.) The docks are restricted to boat owners only.

On the Water

Several boat owner, kayakers  and paddleboarders like to take in the view from the water in the harbor. Clinton Police, Fire and the US Coast Guard will be patrolling the waters. Please be aware that the Fire Zone boundary corresponds closely to the eastern side of the channel, which place most of the sand bar within the Fire Zone. NO ONE IS PERMITTED WITHIN THE FIRE ZONE.

Transportation & Parking

Parking is available at the ConnDOT commuter lot at exit 63 from the Connecticut Turnpike.

Downtown parking is limited and we urge everyone to observe the temporary No Parking signs. Handicapped parking will be available behind the Town Hall Annex and at the Town Beach.

Shuttle buses will run a circuit from the commuter lot to Town Hall to the Pierson School to the Town Beach from 3:30 to 8:30 pm. At the conclusion of the Fireworks display, there will be buses at the end of Waterside Lane (by the beach) to shuttle visitors outward, stopping at Pierson School, Town Hall, and returning to the commuter parking lot.

Rain Date

In the event of impending inclement weather, the entire Summerfest and Fireworks may be postponed until Sunday, August 25, 2018.
