In this exhibition, the artists use nature as inspiration and are conflicted daily by the consumption of materials used in the art making process and recognize the impact their art has on the source of their inspiration. They present their complicity in the denigration of the natural world in order to produce their art. Trees are stripped. Raw minerals are mine. Oil is extracted. Water is drained and flushed.

The purpose of this exhibit is to connect what we do daily to nature and make visible the invisible denigration with the most minimal of means. The installation explores the destruction of virgin ground and connects that destruction through a root system to the work created from nature’s produce.

“It is our point that as we share visually Nature’s ability to nurture as well as our disgust about Man’s ravishes of Nature, we are not to be held harmless in what is happening to our planet. We recognize that we too are part of the problem.”
