Family Farm Fest at Old Sturbridge Village | April 21 – 22 | 9:30 am – 4 pm daily
Old Sturbridge Village invites young and old to celebrate spring with the arrival of baby animals and the preparation of our planting fields. Meet the Village’s cuddly, heritage breed newborns up-close and experience first-hand the responsibilities of raising animals on a farm in 1830. At the Freeman Farm, families will learn about 19th-century agriculture practices and tools, as well as learn how they are applicable to today’s farmers and even backyard gardeners. Kids will even have a chance to try their hand at seasonal chores!
Visit with a variety of animals including cattle, lambs, chicks, and piglets. Compete in our Farm Yard Games, take a hay wagon ride around the countryside, and learn more about farming and gardening. Meet guest teamsters from around New England.
During Family Farm Fest, guests will thrill at “meeting” Laura Ingalls Wilder, of the “Little House” series, as portrayed by historian Melanie Stringer. Stringer provides research-based, factual information about Wilder, her husband Almanzo, daughter Rose, and their family and friends. Her in-character answers to questions from the audience will reflect Ms. Wilder’s known activities, tastes, opinions, experiences, beliefs, and manners.
Stay a little longer with an overnight package at the Old Sturbridge Inn & Reeder Family Lodges!
