Roxbury Jazz Festival | August 11 | 3 pm

The Roxbury Recreation Commission along with TransMedia Creative, LLC is delighted to present the First Annual Roxbury Connecticut Jazz Festival. Generously sponsored by Coldwell Banker and Global Luxury, the festival will showcase a lineup of well-established local and regional Connecticut jazz artists.

People of all ages are encouraged to bring their blankets, lawn chairs, and coolers to enjoy a beautiful day full of great music and old fashioned summer fun at Roxbury’s Munson Meadow. Along with the concerts, there will be a cocktail party, prix fixe boxed lunches sold by the Roxbury Market. A portion of the concert’s proceeds will be donated to Roxbury’s Apple Lane Development Fund, which helps to improve and maintain Hurlburt Park.

The festival will take place rain or shine (a large tent cover the concert area); and, along with showcasing the music, it will also provide an arena for local artisans and vendors to sell their wares. Free admission for children 12 and under. Activities for children include adult supervised bounce houses.

Admission to the VIP cocktail party (sponsors will not be charged) will be $30.00 which provides free drinks from 1 – 4 pm. After 4 pm the cocktail party will change to a cash bar. Gates open at 1 pm. Music starts at 3 pm. Wrist bands will be given to attendees so that people can come and go during the duration of the concert.

The performers appearing at the concert are “The Hot Club of Black Rock,” “Medusa, with Jocelyn Pleasant and Corey Hutchins,” “Kathy Thompson Band,” “Marc Wager and the Roxtones,” and “The Doug White Quintet.” Music begins at 3 pm The headline band, The Doug White Quintet,” will start at 8 pm.
